Temp Housing Update - 9/20/06
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Temporary Housing is officially closed! As of yesterday, Tuesday, September 19th, all temp housing assignments and moves were completed. This was well ahead of our anticipated October 1, 2006 date!
Where did Temporary Housing residents move to?
20% - Remained tripled in Donner
8% - First-year areas
25% - Oakland Apartments
47% - Traditionally upper-class areas
We Want Your Feedback!
Do you have thoughts, suggestion, or comments about temporary housing and your temp housing experience? We want to know!!! A link to an online survey will be e-mailed to all temporary housing residents, hosts, Morewood E-tower and Donner Residence Life staff, and parents within the next 24 hours. Keep a look out for it!
We hope that you will take 5 minutes to complete this survey; the information that you provide will be invaluable to us in planning temporary housing for future years! All temp housing residents and hosts that complete the survey will be entered into a drawing for $50 PlaidCash.
The survey will be available until September 30, 2006. We appreciate you taking your time to give us feedback about temporary housing.
Room Change Requests
As promised, temp housing residents who did not remain tripled in Donner have the opportunity to apply for a room change and be at the top of the waitlist ahead of the general resident population. Although I hope that you're settled and happy in your new assignment, I understand that some individuals may still be interested in applying for a room change.
Applications are available now! Visit the Housing and Dining Services Office (Morewood E-tower, ground level) to pick up/drop off an application.
Furniture Removal
Removal of extra furniture from host rooms whose temp housing resident moved out recently will be completed within the next few days.
If you still have excess furniture in your room after this weekend, please let me know by e-mailing me at ldippold@andrew.cmu.edu.
Billing Adjustments
A final round of billing adjustments will be completed by the end of this week. Hosts will receive a credit based on the number of days that they hosted a temp residents. Temp residents will see an adjustment based on the housing rate of their permanent assignment. If you have any questions about your billing adjustment please send an e-mail to rmassign@andrew.cmu.edu or contact me directly.
Last Temp Housing Update!
With temp housing moves completed, the weekly temp housing e-mail updates must also come to an end! This will be the last temp housing update for the 2006/2007 academic year.
THANK YOU to all of the temporary housing residents, temporary housing hosts, parents of both residents and hosts, Donner and Morewood E-tower RA's, CA's, and Housefellows, all other Residence Life staff members, Facilities Coordinators, Housing and Dining Services staff members, and all others that helped to make temporary housing this year a success. Your patience and understanding throughout this process was greatly appreciated, and we look forward to receiving your feedback from our online survey.
Thanks again!
Sincerely,
Lisa Dippold
