Temporary Housing
Update - 9/13/06
As of today, September 13, 2006, ALL 49 temporary housing students have been given
permanent assignments and only 4 more moves
need to be completed. We hope and anticipate that all temporary
housing students will be moved into their permanent assignments by this
Saturday, September 16.
Some other updates:
Furniture Removal
Our staff is working as quickly as possible to move the third set
of furniture out of Donner rooms following the relocation of the
temporary resident. This afternoon Facilities will be conducting a
second sweep through Donner to remove the third set of furniture from
rooms where the temp resident moved out within the past week. If you
are a host resident whose temp housing resident moved out over a week
ago and the excess furniture is not removed during the sweep this
afternoon, please send me an e-mail to let me know, and we will arrange
to have that furniture removed.
Extra furniture for moves occurring tomorrow and Saturday will be
removed sometime next week.
There are approximately 10 rooms in
Donner that will be remaining as triples/quads. If the residents of
these permanent triples/quads have any furniture requests (such as
having the third desk removed if it is not being used) then please put
those work orders request in as soon as possible. Following the
closing of temp housing, all furniture that's in the room must stay in
the room.
Box Fans and Internet
Hubs
We will be collecting all box fans and internet hubs following the
move of the temporary residents. If the internet hub was in use when
the excess furniture was being removed, it's likely that the hub was
left in the room. If you still have your hub (but the third resident
has since moved out) we are asking that you please return the hub to
the Housing and Dining Services office located on the ground floor of
Morewood E-tower. You can leave the hub with the front desk staff or
to me - please just make sure to let us know what room the hub is from!
Box fans will be picked up by facilities if they haven't already
been collected.
Residents who have chosen to remain in a permanent triple or quad
accommodation can keep their internet hub for the remainder of the time
that the room is occupied as a triple/quad. However, if you wish to keep your box fan,
please respond to this e-mail and let me know. We will
be adding that to your Electronic Living Space Condition Report to
ensure that it's returned at the end of the academic year.
Temp Housing Feedback
Within the next few weeks, we will be asking for feedback from
those who were involved in temporary housing this year. Your feedback
is important to us in improving temporary housing in the future! Start
thinking now about your experience with temporary housing and hold
those thoughts for our survey!
More information about the evaluation will be sent out within the
next week or so.
Billing
The first round of billing prorations has already occurred for
individuals who moved (or whose temp housing resident moved) during the
month of August. A second round of billing updates will be occurring
this week and the final round of adjustments will occur next week once
all temp housing moves have been completed. Prorations for hosts will
be based on the number of days that the temp resident occupied the
space. Adjustments for temp residents will be based on the cost of
their permanent assignment.
Residents who are remaining in a triple or quad will see a 20%
reduction in charges on their student account. They will receive this
reduction for as long as all three/four residents remain in the
triple/quad. An adjustment for each resident in the room will occur if
any one of the residents moves out of the space during the normal room
change process.
Next week's Temp Housing Update will most likely be the last! I
hope that you've found the information contained in these mailing
useful and informative.
Sincerely,
Lisa Dippold
