Laundry:

• located in the basement
• uses a “debit card” – purchase and add money to it using the machine located in the laundry room
• debit card can be purchased in the machine at any time
• 8 washers and 8 dryers
• $1.25 for washer, $1.00 for dryer

Trash/Recycling:

• smaller bags of garbage – use chute located in the hallway past the freight elevator
• dumpsters behind the building for larger trash removal
• recycling boxes located by the freight elevator on each floor
• break down all cardboard boxes and take them out to the dumpster

Parking:

• Located in the lot adjacent to the building at the corner of 5th and Neville
• $85/month
• month-to-month lease so students are not forced to pay for a whole year's parking
• No special permit required.
• Sign up with Millie, the office coordinator in the management office.

Emergency:

• Mon – Thurs before 7 pm, Fri before 5 pm contact University Housing and Dining at 412-268-2139
• Weekdays after 7 pm and weekends contact University Police at 412-268-2323 for any emergency, including facilities problems, lock-outs or medical concerns.
• You may also see any of the RAs in rooms 322, 417, 510, and 827 or the CA in apartment 425
Facilities:
• large community room in the basement
• take Carnegie Mellon ID to the management office to reserve the date and time to use room
• pick up key for room a day in advance
• no fees or deposits required if you are a Carnegie Mellon housing resident
• Internet is provided by Comcast Cable Company
• If you have problems with your cable or internet contact Comcast directly
• If Comcast does not respond appropriately please contact Telecomm 8-8500
• small exercise room available
• $10 fee assessed at the management office
• key kept throughout entire residency in building
• vending machines available in the basement
• bike rack available in the basement – always remember to lock up your bike
• rooftop deck
• accessed through the 9th floor stairwell
• deck closes at 9pm
• open approximately April-October
• courtyard
• accessed around back of building on Henry Street
• courtyard gate is typically locked, but the space can be opened for use at an appointed time by stopping by the management office
• when moving large boxes or furniture, please use the freight elevator
• located in the back of the building
• accessed on the basement level
• mailboxes available
• to check out a mailbox stop by the management office
• all Carnegie Mellon mail sent to SMC
• receiving packages
• packages can be sent directly to Fairfax even if you do not have a mailbox in the building
• Have packages mailed to 4614 Fifth Avenue, Apt #, Pittsburgh, PA 15213. Packages will be held in the management office for you to pick up.
