Subject: Free Laundry Pilot
Dear Morewood Gardens A-D, Resnik and West Wing Residents,
I am pleased to announce the beginning of a pilot installation of
eSuds in the Morewood D and Resnik/West Wing laundry rooms. eSuds is
a web-based monitoring system for laundry that is being installed for
the first time on a college campus by USA Technologies, Inc. in
conjunction with our campus laundry partner, Caldwell & Gregory, Inc.
Attached is a PDF document that describes how to participate in the
pilot. I've also included the instructions at the bottom of this
email. There are two parts to the test:
1) Machine Operations: As a resident of Morewood A-D towers, Resnik
and West Wing, you are entered into a database that will allow you to
activate washers and dryers in the Morewood D and/or R/WW laundry
rooms by swiping your CMU ID card through the controller on the wall
and following the instructions on the LCD. (You must use your ID
card, not a housing access card.) Effective immediately through the
end of the semester, if you use your ID to start the machines they
will run *for free*, no need for those quarters! (If you don't have
an ID or are not in the database, the machines can still be run
normally with quarters.)
2) Notifications: If you register on the eSuds website (see
instructions), you will receive an email notification when your
washer or dryer has completed its cycle. You can also monitor the
progress of your laundry loads on the website for each laundry room
located at http://www.esuds.net/RoomStatus/search.do
During the pilot, if you have difficulties with the electronic start
equipment, you can still use quarters to do your laundry.
In exchange for the free laundry, PLEASE GIVE IT A TRY AND GIVE US
SOME FEEDBACK! Is the wall controller easy to use and the
instructions easy to follow? Is anything missing? What about the
registration and monitoring websites? Find anything not working or
suggestions for improvement?
Please send all feedback to univhous@andrew.cmu.edu. If our pilot is
successful we plan a roll out to several more laundry rooms on campus
this summer.
Thanks!
