Subject: Shady Oak Potential Changes and Retention

Dear Shady Oak Resident,
Thank you to those of you who met with me and other staff recently to discuss
apartment renovations proposed by the Shady Oak owner. The consensus at the
meeting was that the changes would be welcomed by students.
Because the changes are based on a new lease between the university and the
Shady Oak owner and the terms are not yet negotiated, for purposes of room draw
you should assume NO changes in apartment configurations will be made.
The regular retention deadline was yesterday, but if you are still considering
retaining your current apartment for fall you can go to Retention Consultation
day which is this Thursday, February 26, 1-6 pm in the West Wing TV Room and
turn in your paperwork.
Your RAs have the proposed floor plans with the changes. Please take a look
and make your decision for fall, knowing at this point that you should assume
NO changes will be made.
If you retain your current apartment and later this spring we reach an agreement
with the landlord, you will have the option to keep your apartment in the new
configuration, move to any other open apartment in Shady Oak or the Oakland
Apartments of similar configuration to your current apartment (i.e. one-bedroom,
two-bedroom, etc.) or I will allow you to cancel your fall housing with a full
refund.
If you have any questions please respond to this note or chat with the RAs or
Heather Andring, your house fellow.
Regards,
Tim Michael
