Dear Saxony Residents,
It is our understanding that there continues to be problems with
the wireless networking in Saxony, despite the assurances given to
us by CMU Datacomm that the issues have been addressed and resolved.
Therefore, Housing is going to send 2 of its own technology
assistants to Saxony this week, in order to perform some wireless
signal testing and evaluation. These assistants will need to enter
all areas of the building, including various rooms within each
apartment, and should only be in the building between the hours of
9:00 AM and Noon on Wednesday, November 19th. You do not need to be
present for this testing, however, your input is most welcome if you
happen to see our assistants during this period.
The canopy wireless in Saxony was intended as a pilot of portable
wireless to off-campus housing units, and apparently there are some
issues yet to be resolved. We apologize for the ongoing wireless
problems, and thank you for your patience as we continue to
troubleshoot this new technology. We will update you on what we find
after this evaluation is completed.
Sincerely,
Tom Brooks
Facilities Coordinator
