Subject: Saxony Wireless Problems

Dear Saxony Residents:

It has come to my attention that some, if not all, of you may be experiencing some difficulty with the building wireless network.

I've received verification from our campus datacom services that the network is fully functional. It sounds as if the problem lies within the building or with individual machines.

I would like to pay a visit to building before the week is out to trouble shoot the network, but before I do that I'd like to hear from all who are currently experiencing problems, to include a brief description of the nature of the problem.

It has also been suggested that a potential source of the problem may be that some have not yet registered their machine on the network. Therefore I have included a copy of the original instructions for registering below.

I'm looking forward to hearing from all who are affected so as to provide as rapid and effective response as possible.

"The Saxony wireless network is now operational,
so if you have wireless devices that you would
like to use on this network, all you need to do
is register them on CMU's NetReg under the "Saxony
Apartments" subnet. This can be accomplished via
datacomm's web site at: http://netreg.net.cmu.edu/

If you use your wireless device on campus,
it should remain registered under the campus "Wireless"
network as well. Essentially, your device could be
registered under both the campus "Wireless" network
and the "Saxony Apartments" subnet. This will allow
you to have wireless networking on campus as well
as in your apartment building.

the wireless network, feel free to contact the
