Computing Services is piloting a new peer to peer, evening hours computer
help service in Morewood House and is looking for qualified, motivated students to help develop and deploy this pilot. If you're interested

Position Description
Residential Computing Consultant (RCC)
Pilot Program Fall 2002
Required skills & interests:
· Excellent communication skills
· Excellent customer service skills
· Knowledge of Mac and PC operating systems
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office, basic Andrew UNIX, Andrew Calendar,
and Computing Services policies & guidelines
· Interest in helping students with computing problems
· Dedication to learning about Carnegie Mellon's computing environment & disseminating computing knowledge
· Interest in developing and continually improving computing services
for students
Other requirements:
· Live in Morewood House
· Available to assist students 6:00pm to 8:00pm OR 8:00pm to 10:00pm 2 days/week
Position Responsibilities:
· Provide students with assistance for services supported by Computing Services computer via phone and house calls in the Morewood House
towers during on-call hours.
· Use Computing Services' documentation, and Help Center escalation process to aid in resolving problems.
· Attend initial and regular training sessions to develop, hone and maintain trouble-shooting skills.
· Work to continually improve skills, using support from Computing Services to do so.
· Adhere to and uphold all University and Computing Services policies, procedures and guidelines.
· Use formal evaluation forms for each client served. Also gather and
communicate informal feedback about RCC services from clients and
House Fellow's group to Computing Services supervisor.
Compensation:
· Laptop to use for the duration of RCC employment.
· Stipend $120/ month
· Eligible to participate in Computing Services Student Advisory
Committee
· Training: Customer Service & front-line computing support, Access to computing documentation & help system
