Dear Shirley Residents:

On Thursday September 5, 2002 the City of Pittsburgh Fire Marshall will be
conducting a test of the flow and tamper switches for the sprinkler system.
He will be accompanied by representatives of Hanlon Electric and one of
our Facility Maintenance Service electricians. This test is necessary to
approve this fire suppression system installed in your building. This will
require the fire alarms to be set off for 15 to 30 second intervals during
this time. To initiate the alarm they will actually be draining water from
this system to simulate a sprinkler head discharge. There will be 10 or 12
alarms during this test. You will not need to evacuate the building during
this time. We would like to thank everyone in advance for your cooperation
and if there are any questions please feel free to e-mail me.

Sincerely,

Louis McCauley
Assistant Director For Facilities
