Dear Residents,
Since July 30, 2002 we have been granting requests for housing license
agreement cancellations from current residents with a "double your
reservation fee" refund of $500. These cancellations have been creating
additional spaces for us to use in bringing the remaining first year
students to campus from our hotel temporary housing.
We have received all cancellations needed to house women and will
discontinue acceptance of female contract cancellations for the remainder
of the academic year. We will continue to accept male cancellations until
all first-years males are moved to campus. This offer is good for a
limited time only until we get the cancellations we need to accommodate the
first year class. It will end without notice, and at that time we will
stop canceling housing license agreements for the 2002-03 year. (Please be
sure to contact us BEFORE you commit yourself to an off-campus lease!)
If you are still contemplating a housing license agreement cancellation and
move off campus, please contact Adria Greene in the housing office
immediately at asgreene@andrew.cmu.edu to discuss your options and
timeline. We don't want any residents to be caught off-guard, making
off-campus plans and then discovering that they cannot cancel their campus
housing.
Cordially,
Lionel Maten
Associate Director of Housing Services
