Dear Oakland DSL Users,
We've received good news from Telerama that both bandwidth enhancements we
have been waiting on have been completed by Verizon. Telerama is now
smoothing out the bumps in their router to accommodate the new bandwidth,
and you should already be seeing increased speeds, albeit variable at this
point. They are confident that all will be well within a final day or two,
so I cautiously pass this information along to you hoping that will be true!
The terrorist attacks on September 11 certainly threw an additional wrench
into an already problematic situation with your DSL service, I appreciate
the patience many of you have shown in understanding and waiting on these
final improvements.
I understand there are a couple of open trouble tickets with Telerama
currently, but otherwise everyone should be up and running. If you are
still experiencing a "no service" situation, please contact Telerama and us
as soon as possible.
If you signed out a modem to use with the dial-up service and no longer
need it, please return it to the housing office at your convenience.
Thank you.
