Dear Oakland Apartment Residents

        Due to the unfortunate events of Tuesday, September 11th, the planned
upgrade to the speed of the DSL Service has been indefinately delayed.
Verizon had some facilities located inside the World Trade Center, as
well as a facility in very close proximity.  Needless to say the
facilities in the center itself were destroyed, and the other one
sustained severe damage both from the incident and the rescue efforts
as well.  Verizon is pulling in workers from multiple locations and is
focusing all of their efforts to repairing the damage and restoring
phone service to the businesses and residences that have been affected
by these events.   We shall keep you informed as we get further
updates on when they will be able to finish the upgrade to the service.

        The installation of those lines that do not currently have DSL service
has also been affected.  We were attempting to escallate those installs
as they should have been in weeks ago.  Unfortunately the ability to
escalate those orders is in high doubt at this moment.  I am told
however that the lines are in the order queue, so barring other
delayes related to the attack, they should be up no later than the end
of next week.

        If you are still having trouble with your DSL service, however, please
continue to call Telerama and make them aware of the problem.  That way
any possible service problems can be brought to Verizon's attention as
soon as possible to get into the head of the queue.
