Dear Oakland Community Residents
As some of you may have noticed, the DSL service that you are provided
with has been running very slow at certain times of the day. We are
doing everything possible to correct this situation. As of today, there
should be a direct link between Telerama (your DSL Provider) and CMU.
What this means is that web pages, and other networking back to campus
should now be significantly faster, as they can travel over this link
and not the internet in general. This will also provide a speed
improvement to general web sites, as this pip will free that traffic from
Telerama's internet connection, leaving room for more of your information.
The internet connectivity in general is also getting upgraded. 2
Additional links to the internet are ordered for Telerama, and are being
rushed through as quickly as possible. The maximum time for these lines to
be up, should be no more than 3 weeks. We are doing everything we can to
aleviate this problem, and we thank you for your patience in this matter.
Feel free to contact me with any of your concerns through this
Transitional time.
