During the Summer of 1999, electronic
locks were installed on all residence doors at Carnegie Mellon. These new locks are
operated using an electronic key card, which is issued to each resident upon check-in.
The locks also contain an easy-to-use PIN-pad.
Carnegie Mellon is pleased to be one of the
first Universities in the country to make use of this new technology in residence
entry systems, and we will do our best to keep our electronic locks secure, convenient
and easy-to-use for our residents.
