RESERVATION FEE CHARGE
As part of applying for campus housing during summer 2009,
the applicant agrees to a non-refundable $50 reservation fee that will
be billed to their student account in May 2009. This reservation fee has
been deducted from the published summer housing rates, so the reservation
fee plus the summer housing rate equals the total student cost for summer
housing accommodations.
This fee was instituted as a result of significant abuse of making summer
housing reservations and canceling them at the last minute. It is expected
that individuals who apply for summer housing are expressing a genuine
need for accommodations.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
It is understood and agreed that Carnegie Mellon Housing Services (the
University) grants to this applicant (the student) the right, license
and privilege to occupy and use the assigned accommodations for the period
specified. The Student is subject to the terms and conditions stated in
this document and those pertinent rules and regulations detailed in the
Housing License Agreement, “From the Ground Floor UP, the Student Guide
to Housing Services”, the Undergraduate Catalog, and any other additional
conditions promulgated by the University from time to time. (During the
summer it is expected that maintenance work may require the relocation
of summer residents.)
The entire occupancy fee shall be due and payable by the Student on or
before the first day of residence. Where such prepayment is not feasible,
terms for settlement of monies due must be arranged by the Student with
Housing and Dining Services prior to the assumption of occupancy. Failure
to make such arrangements will result in denial of residence. Under no
circumstances can payment be deferred beyond thirty (30) days prior to
the termination of occupancy. All students with a student account at the
University will have their accounts charged for summer occupancy unless
other arrangements have been made.
Violation by the student of the terms and conditions stated herein or
those of the previously cited sources will result in whatever disciplinary
and punitive action the University feels is reasonable and warranted.
By signing and submitting an application for summer housing I agree that
I have read and will abide by all the information and policies outlined
above and any others published to me by the University or Housing and
Dining Services during my stay. I understand and agree to have my student
account charged a $50.00 non-refundable reservation fee which will be
applied to my summer housing charge.
