Housing Check-in – Returning Residents

Welcome back to Carnegie Mellon Housing & Dining!

Upperclass residents are permitted to arrive to campus beginning Thursday, August 21, 2008. 

Housing and Dining Services is again implementing electronic check-in for our residents in buildings with electronic locks (Boss, Doherty, Donner, Hamerschlag, Henderson, Margaret Morrison, McGill, Morewood Gardens, Morewood E-Tower, Mudge, Stever House, Resnik, Roselawn, Scobell, Shirley, Welch, West Wing and Woodlawn).  Please follow the instructions below to check-in:

  • In order to access your fall assignment it is necessary to have your Carnegie Mellon student ID+ card in your possession. 
  • Visit one of the kiosks located in the University Center, the Housing & Dining Services office or the Morewood service desk.
  • On or after August 21, encode your housing access to your ID+ card by following the posted instructions at the kiosk.   Please note, that even if you encode your access prior to August 21, your card will not be active until August 21.
  • In the event you have lost your ID+ card, the ID+ Card Office is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5 pm. 
  • The Housing & Dining services office is open 8:30 am to 5 pm the weekend of August 23 and 24 in the event you cannot locate your ID+ card and you need to gain temporary access to your assignment.

The check-in process for our residents returning to buildings in the Oakland Community Apartments (Cathedral Mansions, Fairfax, London Terrace, Shady Oak, Veronica and Webster Hall) requires you to visit the Housing and Dining Services office located in Morewood Gardens E Tower. Our office is open from 8:30 am to 8:30 pm on Thursday and Friday, August 21 and 22 and 8:30 am to 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday, August 23 and 24. If you arrive after-hours, please check-in at the Morewood Gardens service desk -- the desk is open 24 hours.

CHECK-IN NOTES:

• Your Carnegie Mellon ID card will gain you 24-hour access to the University Center through the Merson Courtyard entrance, the entrance next to Entropy, or the entrance under Danforth Lounge near the gym.

• The Housing and Dining Services office will have extended hours from 8:30 am to 8:30 pm during the week of August 18 to assist you in gaining access to your living space.
