FurnitureCan I get a mattress from Housing?Mattresses are not provided by Housing Services to the Fraternity House residents. However, Housing Services will provide mattresses at cost based on requests from house managers or presidents. Can I get a bed or desk from Housing similar to the one I had in the residence halls?Housing does not provide any furniture items to the fraternity houses. Residence hall furniture is acquired through fees from residence hall occupants. This is a separate budget and these funds are not used to support the fraternity facilities and furnishings. Housing does on occasion offer used furniture for sale and can also provide information as to where furniture can be purchased. Dishwashing EquipmentHow do we get soap or other chemicals for the dishwasher? You or your house manager can submit a maintenance request on the Housing Web page and the facilities crew will deliver these supplies to your kitchen. Capital ProjectsWhat constitutes a capital improvement?Capital improvements are defined as facilities related projects that are a permanent improvement to the structure of your house. This does not include tools for the project or the purchase of moveable assets such as furniture. What is necessary to getting a project approved?First, consult with your house manager or house president. You will then need to obtain a Capital Improvement Project Form which is available at the Housing Services reception desk. The form will require you to submit detailed information about what you are planning including drawings if necessary. The documents will be reviewed for structural and fire safety and if approved you will be given notice so that you can officially begin. Does the $2000.00 capital improvement allotment carry over if it is not used? No, the money is available for your use on a yearly basis and if not used by the end of August the amount for September will once again be $2000.00 How do we get reimbursed for capital improvement projects? You can bring copies of receipts for capital project materials to Dan Askin in the Housing Services Office. Once the project is complete and provided the project had prior approval from Housing we will process your receipts and your house's monthly statement will show a credit in the amount of the receipt total. Snow RemovalWhy did the workers from Facilities Management only clear one path in the snow leading to our house? In accordance with the lease agreement this is all they are required to clear. Housing Services will provide each house with two snow shovels for your own use to clear the patio and any areas surrounding your house that you want to shovel. |
