FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Does every resident have his/her own network connection?
A: With very few exceptions, we provide one connection per resident. Every on-campus residence hall room has at least one 10baseT outlet. In order to use this network outlet, your computer will need a 10baseT ethernet card, a balun connector and a CAT-5 ethernet cable with RJ45 connectors.

We provide commercial broadband internet service (currently Comcast cable modems) to the off-campus apartments. These apartments have one ethernet connection that is shared to all residents via a router or hub.

See the Computing Services web site for more information on hardware requirements for the campus ethernet network.
