FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q: I was wondering which buildings have ethernet connections versus broadband internet connections? A: All on-campus housing is wired for direct ethernet. Some of our off-campus buildings (Shady Oak Apartments, Shirley Apartments and, Veronica Apartments,) also have ethernet connections. These connections require that you have a standard 10BaseT network card installed in your computer, a CAT-5 ethernet cable and a "balun" connector. These items are typically all available through the campus computer store. The remaining off-campus apartments ( Cathedral Mansions, Fairfax Apartments, London Terrace Apartments, Neville Apartments, and Webster Hall) are not wired for direct ethernet, but instead are equipped with high-speed broadband Internet service, provided by Comcast. These connections require that you have a standard 10BaseT network card installed in your computer and a CAT-5 ethernet cable. Residents may purchase a 10 mb 4-port mini-hub which enables multiple residents to share one broadband internet connection.
