NEW DINING WEBSITE LAUNCHED TODAY
Today marks the beginning of Dining Services' new electronic presence
on a website <http://www.cmu.edu/dining/> geared to make finding
information about your Carnegie Mellondining experience easier. Profiles of eating
locations, complete with menus and meal block options, thorough descriptions of
meal-plan options and advantages, and links to strategies for a healthier
lifestyle are just a few of the things that will make your dining experience even
better! Be sure to explore and use all of the resources the website has to offer,
including the feedback links to Housing and Dining Services. As with all of our
programs and services, we appreciate your feedback and strive to provide you with
the highest quality dining and customer service experiences as possible. Enjoy!

TASTE OF INDIA COMPLETES MOVE TO RESNIK
Due to the upcoming demolition of the old Student Center, Taste of
India's last day serving lunch in the building was Friday, March 31. The lunch
operation will move to Resnik House, where Taste of India has been
serving dinner all semester. Beginning April 3, lunch will be served from
11am to 2pm, Monday through Friday, and dinner will be served from 5 to 9pm,
seven days a week. The Student Center is being razed to make room for the
new Gates Center for Computer Science. Taste of India's presence in
Resnik will last at least through the end of the semester.

CARNIVAL CRAVINGS?
As your various Carnival involvement demands more time and leads to
later evenings, remember that you can fulfill your Casual Dining needs by
visiting one of the many vending machines on campus. An increasing
number of our machines allow you to use your PlaidCash dollars in addition to
cash to grab a quick snack or drink. Morewood Gardens and some of the
academic buildings also offer machines with great-tasting and healthy
subs and other snacks. Check them out!

NEWS FROM THE NUTRITIONIST by Paula Martin
Considering going vegetarian? Ask yourself these important questions
first:

Am I willing to plan my meals?
Do I like to eat 5 to 9 fruit and vegetable servings a day?
Am I willing to expand my taste preferences by trying new foods?
Do I want to eat whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds and soy proteins?
There are several ways of eating vegetarian:

-A Semi-vegetarian or "flexitarian" excludes some but not all foods of
animal origin. You may not eat beef, for example, but will sometimes
eat poultry or seafood.
-A Lacto-ovovegetarin includes milk, milk products and eggs in their
diet, but might omit meat, fish and poultry.
-A Lactovegetarian includes milk products, but doesn't eat meat, eggs,
poultry, fish or seafood.
-A Vegan doesn't eat any animal products or foods that have animal
origin like honey or gelatin.

Here are some tips from the American Dietetic Association to get started:
-Make a list of all the meatless dishes you already enjoy.
-Browse though vegetarian cookbooks and write down recipes that sound
good to you.
-Try meat-alternative products made with soy.

Happy Eating,
Paula
