MARCH 20 - APRIL 2, 2006
WELCOME BACK
We hope that you enjoyed your Spring Break! The second half of the semester will include a number of new developments in campus dining, with a few of them highlighted in this issue. Good luck returning to your classes, preparing for Carnival, and considering your summer options.
CONSTRUCTION BEGINS IN RESNIK
For starters, work on the new Carnegie Mellon Cafe, due to be open to the university community this fall, began last week. The space will include a brand new cafe, a fitness facility, and other interesting features when it debuts in August. Stay tuned for more information.
SUMMER HOUSING AND DINING INFORMATION
Also speaking of the summer, information for housing and dining plans has been posted at <http://www.housing.cmu.edu/SummerHousing/> . Follow the link at the bottom of the page to access the necessary form. Please complete it and turn it into the Housing & Dining office in Morewood E-tower.
YOU ASKED FOR IT, YOU GOT IT!
There are three new features in the UC Marketplace area that are direct responses to student feedback so far this semester.
First, Grab N Go now offers fruit snacks and a variety of soy milks. Soy milk is available in a number of flavors in the larger size, and now you can pick up smaller, individual servings in multiple flavors, as well.
Second, Sushi Two now has block offerings! Stop by the UC Marketplace for details.
Finally, Bento Bowl is again offering the Teriyaki Flat Iron Steak with Toasted Sesame Seeds as a PREMIUM ENTREE. Other entrees this week will include Pork Chow Fun, Thai Shrimp with Rice, Moo Goo Gai Pan (Chicken), and Vegetarian Tofu Egg Foo Yung Stir Fry.

MARCH IS NATIONAL NUTRITION MONTH
National Nutrition Month® is a nutrition education and information campaign sponsored annually by the American Dietetic Association. The campaign is designed to focus attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. NNM also promotes ADA and its members to the public and the media as the most
valuable and credible source of timely, scientifically based food and nutrition information.
The Food and Physical Activity choices you make today and every day in college affect your health and how you feel today and in the future. Eating right and being physically active are keys to a healthy lifestyle.
Here's how:
-Make smart choices from every food group. Choose your block sides wisely by picking a piece of fruit or fruit cup over chips or French fries.
-Consider adding the daily hot vegetable or a side salad to your mid-day and evening meals every day.
-Play it safe with food. Chill all the leftover hot foods you have in your room promptly.
-Find your balance between food and physical activity. Regular activity is important for your overall health and fitness---plus it helps control body weight, promotes a feeling of wellness and reduces the risk of chronic diseases.
Back issues and lots of other dining information is on the Dining Resources page at <http://www.housing.cmu.edu/Dining/default.html> .
