Dear Residents,
As you may have noticed there has been some exterior maintenance activity
in your area involving crews digging at the top of the street off and
on for the past couple of weeks. This work was part of actions taken by
housing to locate and mitigate the source of the water coming from the
hillside. It was initially unclear as to the source but now after our
own investigation and collaboration with the Pittsburgh Water & Sanitation
Authority (PWSA) it has been determined that the source and subsequent
responsibly for the correction of the problem lay with the city. The area
most directly effect by the hillside water is Tech House, and a few houses
on Forbes Ave. A temporary trench with a sump pump has been set up between
Tech and the hillside in an effort to catch some of the water and divert
most of it away from the house. Subsequently this water has to go some
where and since the current storm drain lines are inadequate to manage
this flow, it is being directed down the stree!

We will be working with the city water authority on what it will take
for them to stop the flow of the water into our areas. It is their (PWSA)
intention thus far to have a crew identify and stop flow on Sunday (11/12)
and Monday (11/13). Since the source is believed to be from lines located
on Gladstone RD. it may not be necessary for them to be in our area. Thank
