| Subject: Housing Heat Activation (All replies to plaid@andrew.cmu.edu)
Dear Residents, With the approach of cooler temperatures, FMS personnel have started activating housing and campus building heating systems. Their plan is to insure that all heating systems are fully functional by 4:00 pm, Friday October 13, 2005. The night temperatures are expected to drop to the 40s. The day temperatures are expected to be in the low to mid 60's during the next ten day's. This change in weather will be significant and it is important that we begin to heat the buildings. It is also important to understand that after the heat is on it can not be turned off with the exception of New House. New House has a four pipe system that allows each resident to control heating or cooling at the resident's personal preference. The heat will remain on until spring shut down and in most residence halls it can be controlled by a thermostat located within the apartment or room. If you have any questions please contact your facility coordinator and they will be more than happy to help. We thank you for your patience during this transition period. Sincerely, ---------------------------------------------------------------- |
