THIS WEEK IN DINING SEPTEMBER 17 - SEPTEMBER 23, 2006
This newsletter is available in PDF format @
http://www.cmu.edu/dining/pdfs/thisWeek/TWIDsept17_sept23.pdf
Good afternoon! It's already the beginning of this semester's fourth week
of classes, and This Week hopes you are off to a good start. If you're
not
quite set with how your meal plan works with the rest of your schedule,
read below on how to use the Meal Plan Change Period to your advantage.
Also featured this week are the permanent hours of the Maggie Murph Café,
Premium Entrees, and Guest Chef Night. New dining options are also being
highlighted in this week's edition of THE TARTAN, so grab a copy and check
out page A4 while you're reading the rest of the news. We have opened
new venues and extended hours, just for you, and more changes are still
to come!
THE MAGGIE MURPH CAFÉ IS OFFICIALLY OPEN
As featured in this week’s Tartan ad, The Maggie Murph Café
is now open for
regular business hours. Refuel with a fresh Starbucks coffee or drink,
a
fresh muffin, cookie, or cinnamon roll from our on-campus bakery, or grab
a
meal for breakfast or lunch with your meal blocks. The regular hours,
effective today, are:
Monday – Thursday: 8a – 1a
Friday: 8a – 8p
Saturday: 10a – 8p
Sunday: Noon – 1a
MEAL PLAN CHANGE PERIOD
This week is your last chance to change your meal plan. The meal plan
change period officially ends Wednesday 9/20 at 4:59 pm.
Here is how you change your meal plan:
-Look over your current meal plan. How's your mix of blocks and DineX
working for you during these first two weeks?
-Check out your options. You are permitted to change your plan *within*
or
*above* your current meal plan. For instance:
--If you have an A-level plan, you can only switch to another plan in
the
green group.
--If you have a B-level plan, you can switch to another blue plan or pay
more to get a green plan, and so on...
-Finally, fill out the correct form!
--First year students can go online to access the meal plan change form
at:
https://bizservweb.pc.cc.cmu.edu/changeform/changeform.aspx
--Oakland residents, upper-class students, and Greek system transfers,
please stop by Housing and Dining Services for assistance.
You are free to change your meal plan multiple times during the period,
but
the meal plan on record for you at 5:00p on September 20 will remain your
meal plan for the rest of the semester.
MEAL PLAN INFORMATION is available on our website, and a copy of the current
Plaid Plan contract is available at
http://www.cmu.edu/dining/pdfs/plans/Dining_First_YearContract.pdf. The
WEBSITE also features a listing of the menus, Create-A-Block options,
hours, and location of each of our dining venues. Updates for our newer
locations are being posted, so check it out for the latest specials and
news!
Give our PREMIUM ENTREES a try!
This week, Schatz is featuring a PREMIUM ENTRÉE at Wednesday’s
(9/20)
dinner. If you are planning ahead, you can find another PREMIUM ENTRÉE
next
week on Tuesday (9/26).
SEQUOIA GRILL'S weekly premium special is a new Grilled Lemon Pepper Salmon
with starch & vegetable du jour.
BENTO BOWL'S premium entree is Shrimp & Scallops with Lobster Sauce.
Both of these items are available in the UC Food Gallery all week, so
stop
by to try something new!
Next week you will be able to enjoy GUEST CHEF NIGHT on Thursday (9/28)
in
the Rangos Ballroom. For the cost of one block, you will receive an all
you care to eat meal prepared for you by a visiting chef. Former Guest
Chefs include: Corey Hayes - Executive Chef of the Pittsburgh Steelers
training facility; Rich Costanza – Executive Chef of Robert Morris
University; and Rick Laskie – Executive Chef of Saint Vincent College.
Schatz will not be serving dinner that night.
The menu includes:
Carving Stations w/ Round of Beef Steamship & Sweet Leg of Lamb
Mediterranean Bar w/ Salads & Toppings
Lemon Grass Chicken
Sausage & White Bean Ragout
Saffron Rice
Artichoke Smashed Potatoes
Green Beans with Pepper Bacon & Tomatoes
Baked Autumn Root Vegetable Medley
This weekend marks the second CASH-OUT WEEKEND of the semester. Your
two-week allocation of DineX will reset after Sunday evening and will
*not*
roll over, so be sure to use as much of your balance as possible and get
the most value out of your meal plan. The Carnegie Mellon Café,
Skibo Café, The Underground, The UC Food Gallery and Si Senior
are all open this weekend, so use your DineXtra there. You do not have
to wait until Sunday evening to stock up on beverages and snacks... Start
your cash out this week when it's convenient for you, but leave enough
DineX to get you through the weekend.
